How to get from the airport to Casablanca?
Information, valid for 2019:
– There is a railway station on the -1 level of the terminal 1. Trains leave for Casablanca every hour from 6:30 to 22:30. From Casablanca to the airport – 5:30 – 21:00. Trains go fast, so it takes approx. 35 min. to Casa Voyageurs. A 2d class ticket costs 42 MAD and can be bought at the ticket office or in the ticket machine. Last station of the route is Casa Port. Train stops at L’Oasis, Mers Sultan and Casa Voyageurs. There’s a ticket control, so it’s better not to try to go by train without a ticket.
– CTM buses stop outside terminal 1. Buses leave once in 1-2 hours for Casablanca from 7:30 to 24:00. From Casablanca to airport – 6:00 – 22:30. A drive is about 45 min. to CTM terminal. There may be traffic jams on the way. The ticket is sold by driver and costs 20 MAD. The bus makes several stops at Californie suburb, boulevard Abdelmoumen, boulevard Hassan II and place de Bandoeng.
– Taxi station is next to arrivals (on the 0 level of terminal 1). Available 24/7. The cost is approx. 250 MAD.
– Car rent services in the airport offer Avis, Europe Car, Hertz, Sixt, Afrique Rent, Air Car, Budget, Dollar Car, Ennasr Car, Express, First Car, Genial Car, Jet Car, Liege Tour, Majestic Limousine, National Alamo Car, Nava Tour, Renaissance Car, Select Rent and Thrifty Car companies.
The rate is better on the ground floor (on the way to railway station). Not on the first floor next to baggage claims.
If you arrive late in the night and you want to save money for taxi, you can book 1 night in a hotel (that has an option of free transfer) next to the airport. So you’ll be delivered for free to and from the hotel, but the next day you’ll be able to use public transportation from the airport.
30 min. of free Wi-Fi connection are available in the airport. (I had no possibility to check it).
Some facts and history about the airport
Airport of Casablanca is the largest airport of Morocco. It was built in 1943 by the US army. After the end of the World War II the airport was closed. In 1950s it was reopened to host US military forces that were afraid of the USSR. After the independence Moroccan government and Mohammed V asked US forces to leave the airport. But the old name of military base – “Nouaceur” – is still in use by locals. Also this is the name for the airport neighborhood.
