GPS coordinates: 30°25’03.4″N 9°35’31.8″W (30.417616, -9.592156)

The building of fire station has a shape of an unfinished circle with the tower inside of it. It was erected in 1963 by Moroccan architect of French origin – Jean Francois Zevaco.

The clock tower has proportions that can be compared to minarets in Morocco. And the shape of building (if one takes a look from above) resembles another Islamic symbol – the crescent and the star (tower). Zoom in the map to see it.

Jean Francois Zevaco (1916-2003)

Was born in Casablanca. He had completed the study in École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris and returned back to Morocco, where he established a private practice. He was one of the architects who took part in reconstruction of Agadir after the earthquake in 1960. His projects seem to be influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, Oscar Niemeyer and traditional Moroccan architecture.
