The monument was designed by Claude Verdugo. The wall of remembrance is dedicated to the victims of the earthquake of 1960. The inscription is a quote of King Mohammed V words: “Fate may have decided to destroy Agadir, but its reconstruction depends on our faith and will”.
Memorial wall is also a symbol of the spirit of Moroccan people: to admit the fate but never to give up.
On the opposite side of square you will find the City Hall. To the right there is a modernist-style building of the central post office of Agadir. It was erected in 1963-1966 by Jean-Francois Zevaco. 30°25’14.7″N 9°35’51.6″W (30.420746, -9.597657).
