Dunes, beach and surfing
Essaouira is famous as a wind city due to strong north winds. Especially strong they are in the summer, that’s why summertime is perfect for kite- and windsurfing. From October to April oceanic storms create waves up to 3 m. So this time suits surfers.
Wide sandy beach of Essaouira bay is called Tagart. During low tide you may meet locals playing football here. Tagart beach begins right by the port and medina of Essaouira, after walking ~2 km. you will reach dunes: 31°29’52.6″N 9°45’49.5″W (31.497949, -9.763751).
