Chouara tannery

Chouara tannery is the largest of 3 tanneries built in Fez in 11th century. Usually it is told that all dyes are natural and that yellow color is achieved by saffron.

Al-Attarine Madrasa

One of the most interesting madrasas of Fez was erected in 1323-1325 by sultan Uthman II Abu Said.

Marinid tombs

Ruins of former necropolis. Marinid tombs are located on the hill not far from Borj Nord fort, this location offers beautiful view to Old Fez.

Borj Nord – viewpoint and museum of arms

Borj Nord is a fort that was built in 1582. There’s a great view to Fes el-Bali from here and you have even no need to visit the museum.

Fes el-Bali is world’s hugest maze for pedestrians. This is the place where Fez was founded by the Idrisids in 789.

The second medina of Fez was founded in 1276 by the Marinids. It is located just outside the first, old medina.

Cherarda Kasbah

The primary kasbah was built by the Saadians and later it was refurbished by sultan Moulay Rachid to house guich tribes. Cherarda is the name of one of these tribes.
